Webmail for @cs.kuleuven.be mailservers
Central ICTS plans to stop their webmail service in the beginning of the academice year 2010-11 (thus beginning of october 2010).
Here you find how to use the departmental Zimbra webmail to read your mail from the departemental mail servers.
Basically there are two options:
To access the existing mail servers with Zimbra
- Ad/Disad-vantages:
- pro: you only need to change your Zimbra config for webmail access.
existing filters and tools remain operational - contra: a new account in your Zimbra webmail
- pro: you only need to change your Zimbra config for webmail access.
- Check with the helpdesk, your mail might have to be moved to a new mail server
- After that, you can prepare your zimbra config yourself.
To use Zimbra as your only mail server
- Caveat: up until now not extensively tested ... if you are willing to check it out, you are welcome, but expect some hurdles to tackle
- Ad/Disad-vantages:
- pro: only one mail server accessible with webmail and IMAP
- contra: only Zimbra mail filtering, no procmail or other unix based tools.
- helpdesk has to setup your E-Mail account on/to Zimbra
- you need to be available for the conversion of your mailboxes from the old server to the Zimbra server.
- you have to convert/reconfigure your imap/mail client(s)
