A real zero diminishing homotopy for an exponential or trigonometric polynomial
Abstract
The theory of total positivity provides for a real exponential or trigonometric polynomial a homotopy with the property that the number of real zeros decreases monotonically. For an exponential polynomial, this homotopy can be intepreted as a special univariate case of the polyhedral homotopy described in [2] with a quadratic 'lifting function'.
