Measuring the amount of internal computer memory luckely poses few, if any, problems. In the tables below personal computers were not taken into account.
INTERNAL MEMORY (LINEAR AND LOGARITHMIC)
The table below shows the decrease of memory cost in time. Included:
| year | size in Mbytes | type |
| 1979 | 0.0625 Mb | 64Kb Intel memory for PDP |
| 1984 | 2 Mb | memory for Vax 11/750 |
| 1986 | 2 Mb | memory for VME bus |
| 1989 | 8 Mb | 8 x 1 Mb SIMM's |
| 1995 | 64 Mb | 4 x 16 Mb SIMM's |
| 1996 | 64 Mb | 2 x 32 Mb SIMM's |
