Kobus Barnard is an associate professor of computing science at the University
of Arizona. He received his Ph.D. in computer science from Simon Fraser
University in the area of computational color constancy. He then spent two years
at the University of California at Berkeley as a post doctoral researcher
working on image understanding and digital libraries. His current interests
include stochastic modeling approaches to machine vision problems and
applications to scientific data.

Mark Maybury | |

Dr. Mark Maybury is Executive Director of MITRE's Information Technology Division (itc.mitre.org). Dr. Maybury is a member of the Board of OMG and the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. Mark is editor or co-author of nine books including Intelligent Multimedia Interfaces, Intelligent Multimedia Information Retrieval, Question Answering, Intelligent User Interfaces, Advances in Text Summarization, Advances in Knowledge Management, Personalized Digital Television, and Information Storage and Retrieval. Mark has been awarded patents for broadcast news understanding and personalized news navigation. Mark received a B.A. from Holy Cross, an M.B.A. from RPI, and an M. Phil. and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Cambridge University, England.

Raymond Mooney | |

Raymond J. Mooney is a Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at the
University of Texas at Austin. He received his Ph.D. in 1988 from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. He is an author of over 150 published research papers, primarily in the areas of machine learning and
natural language processing. He is the current President of the International Machine Learning Society, was program co-chair for the 2006 AAAI Conference on
Artificial Intelligence, general chair of the 2005 Human Language Technology Conference and Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing,
and co-chair of the 1990 International Conference on Machine Learning. He is a
Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and recipient of best paper awards from the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence,
the SIGKDD International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, the International Conference on Machine Learning, and the Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics. His recent research has focused
on learning for natural-language processing, text mining for bioinformatics,
statistical relational learning, and transfer learning.

Till Quack | |

Till Quack is a post doctoral researcher at BiWi Computer Vision Lab at ETH Zurich. He obtained a M.Sc. degree in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich in 2004. From 2004 to 2009, he was research assistant and Ph.D. student at the Computer Vision Group of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland with Prof. Luc Van Gool. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science (Dr.sc.techn.) from ETH Zurich for his work on mining and retrieval of visual data in a multimodal context in 2009. He is also co-founder and CTO of the startup kooaba in the field of mobile visual search. His recent research interests include multi-modal mining of data from community photo collections.
